The Feed-In Tariff

The Feed-in Tariff is a government-backed scheme to encourage homeowners to generate green electricity.

The FIT scheme offers generous payments to homeowners for the energy produced from Solar panels.

Payments are tax-free, if you live in the property and are not its landlord, they also increase with inflation and are guaranteed for 25 years. On average, a system can provide an 11% return, making solar panels a great investment.

If additional electricity is needed you can import it from the National Grid, paying your energy company as usual. As you'll be using the green electricity provided from the panels, the amount of electricity you will need from the grid will be reduced. This means you will be paying your provider much less.

As energy prices continue to increase, Solar PV will protect you against rising costs and increasing your savings over time.

How it works

Get paid for all the electricity you produce

The Generation Tariif means that your energy supplier will pay you a set rate for each unit or kWh generated, whether you use it in your home or not.

Extra payment for power that is exported back to the grid

The Export Tariff has been set up as you won't be able to use all of the energy that your system produces. Your energy supplier will pay you extra for any units that you export back to National Grid.

Reduce your energy bills by using free solar electricity

The average home will use around 50% of the energy produced by a PV system. The more you use of your free electricity, the greater the reductions on your energy bills.
